What a fine and slightly quirky love poem, Mathew. I'm so glad it didn't stay lost. I really like the way music is the soundtrack to everything, as it is for so many. I could hear both "Purple Rain" and "Purple Haze" in my head while I was reading. The second verse is my favourite and comes across well in the recording:
I like the Crown Royal and Prince references. I remember those purple felt bags that came with the bottles.
I still have one!
Awesome! They were great for carrying D&D dice back in the day. :)
Hell yes they were! I remember a friend did that, positively bulging with more dice than he could ever use.
Plum and plumb and plumped with remembrance. I drank my Purple Deep and cherished a Siamese cat we named Violet.
Like a trip down memory lane... Thanks for finding and sharing!

"She loved Prince
for him it was Hendrix
they orbited one another in rhythm
she bought him sharpened knives
a heliotrope box of cards
they warmed one another
deep in December"
I’ll take slightly quirky any day, Martin! And you nailed the soundtrack. Thanks!
A high praise indeed, coming from a fine poet like Martin, and well deserved, dear Mathew.
So well done! Purple in all her subtleties and glories.
