Wonderful poem, Mathew.

There are some stunning lines in here.

I particularly enjoyed the last two:

"spring forth, shame-shedder

wear your color for your own"

Well done!

Morning Mathew. Terrific piece, gorgeous weather here also tricking us into feeling like it's Spring. I read a line up there somewhere about someone 'nearing their forties' and it made me smile, as I near winding up my sixties and relish the perspective. As you said, adding the years is 'not bad' at all!

Good morning, Rich! Good luck avoiding more winter nonsense.

Have myself found relinquishing the inherited sins of our fathers is much more difficult than we think (sometimes I do not choose to) but this poem cuts them off like the demarcation line between earth and air. Powerful, even shouted imagery here.

Thanks, Patris. I think I somehow managed to trick myself in writing this one with some metaphors there that turned up the louder, tougher stuff.

Appropriately tough and beautifully worded. There’s a level of rejection in the volume that makes it what it needs to be when we insist with ourselves that we let go past, hard (yet familiar and so comfortable) remnants that we’ve lived with so long.
